You’ve probably heard the old adage that as soon as you make your Web site “idiot proof” they’ll go and make a better idiot. No offense intended to any user of any Web site, but people do the most amazing things. I’m in the midst of user testing for a client, and again I’m seeing people do things that I never would have expected.
When you spend your life steeped in the Internet, days can blend together. That’s why I particularly love days when we launch a new site. Much like a proud parent, the “birth” of a new or improved Web property is a big event (Feel free to insert all the “get a life” comments you’d like right here.).
If you manage or are otherwise responsible for your organization’s Web site, I’m sure you’ve heard that more than once. I used to hear it at Aurora all the time. I’d get off the phone with a colleague from another hospital or health system who was just gushing about the site and asking how on earth we did all that, and somebody would darken my door to tell me right to my face how bad our site was.
