Are You A Mr. October?
Today is one of my favorite days of the year: Opening day in baseball. I’ve been waiting since last October for this day to come, and it’s finally here. I like the freshly-manicured green grass fields untouched by runners and basemen; I like the look of the crisp, clean new uniforms untouched by dirt and sweat. Perfect games, although improbable, are possible and nobody yet has a losing season. Mostly, I like the idea that anything is possible starting with this day.
So here’s a question for you: does your Web site have an opening day? The start of a new season when all things are possible? A day when the slate is wiped clean to let it start again?
At least once a year, every Web site needs its own “opening day” of sorts. A day when you look at the site – sees its flaws and better yet – its potential – and say, that’s okay because we are starting anew today.
So how does your new season start?
- Maybe you hold a team meeting to establish your season goals. Some achievable and a couple that require a stretch.
- Maybe you recruit a new team player to shore-up a weak position.
- Or recruit a new pitching coach to help sell your ideas.
- Maybe you watch some video to look for improvements or check-out a rival team to see what they’ve got that you don’t.
- Maybe you learn a new pitch or figure out how to steal a base or two.
- Maybe you review your stats to see how you stack up.
- Or maybe you just grab a handful of peanuts and a beer and contemplate your next play.
Doesn’t really matter what you do. Play the game. Believe anything is possible in a brand new season. Remember, Fall is just around the corner and everyone still wants to be playing in October. Make sure you stay in the game by following a winning playbook.
And oh yeah, Go Braves!
