What a year.
I’m a bit ashamed to admit that I’m glad to see 2011 in the rear view mirror. Parts of 2011 were really tough for all of us at Greystone.Net — saying goodbye is never easy. But much good happened this year too though — getting to know new colleagues and clients, working hard to expand our products and services, traveling across the world to speak at conferences, and most importantly, reconnecting with many friends in this busy world of healthcare Internet marketing.

Especially at this time of year, especially after an action-packed Healthcare Internet Conference, especially as I am about to travel across the country … and deal with too many people at airports, too many cars rushing to family and too many people racing to the best deal at their favorite stores, I wonder if we slow down enough to think about thanks … and giving.

It’s been a little more than a week since the end of the 15th Annual Healthcare Internet Conference, and what a whirlwind. But a good whirlwind. It was a fun time with lots of great educational sessions and many chances to see old friends again and make new ones, which is the best part of each year’s conference, in my opinion.

Next Monday, the Healthcare Internet Conference will start. I can’t believe it will be the 15th Annual. How quickly time has passed from that day in November of 1996 when John Eudes, I and the rest of the “early” Greystone gang opened the first Healthcare Internet Conference at Bally’s in Las Vegas. We didn’t know it would become an annual event.

On Friday, the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development (SHSMD) bestowed a posthumous award to John Eudes for Individual Professional Excellence. SHSMD’s Award for Individual Professional Excellence is the highest honor the Society bestows on one of its members.

Tomorrow is the launch of Greystone’s first OpenSpace, Unconference. For those of you who know me, you probably already realize this presents a bit of an uncomfortable spot for me. I’m the kind of person who likes to write to-do lists and craves structure. And, the idea of hosting a meeting of senior Web leaders with no pre-set agenda and no pre-generated presentations and materials is just a little scary to me.
