Excited, Exhausted and Grateful

November 24th, 2010 No comments

I spent the last week at the 14th Annual Healthcare Internet Conference, and I’m not sure I can accurately describe how I am excited, exhausted and grateful all at the same time. The Conference had an all time record attendance – over 570 folks for 100s of organizations country-wide – and what a great time. The keynoters were great from the kick off with Scott Linabarger from the Cleveland Conference to gaining an understanding in the Day in the Life of an e-Health at UWHealth through Becky Broering’s eyes. We also had great insights from David Harlow, Brian Solis, Rob Curley and Mark Gothberg. If you missed it, you missed a lot.

We are pleased to release the conference brochure for the 14th Annual Healthcare Internet Conference, which will be held at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas beginning November 15-17, 2010.  It took a ton of work to get the program in place, but it was also a lot of fun. Download a copy of it from our Web site. We think it is offers a wide and strong variety of educational and network opportunities.

Help! My brain is full.

This was an extremely common refrain at the 13th Annual Healthcare Internet Conference. I can’t tell you how many times I heard some version of this expression during conversations in the hallways or during concurrent sessions. With so many first-time Conference attendees this year (in fact, this was our best-attended conference ever!), I am not sure how many were prepared for three days full of case studies by peers, speeches by industry visionaries, and networking with some of the most successful hospital Web site managers in the country.

You know we think the world of Shel Holz, one of the leading social media and communications experts in the business.  After all, we’ve had him as a keynote presenter at our Healthcare Internet Conference three years running, and have done joint engagements with him. And usually we agree with him right down the line.

Back in the Saddle

November 5th, 2009 No comments

The Healthcare Internet Conference can be an exhilarating – and exhausting — ride. Even the proud owners of award winning sites go home with a long list of things to try or look into.  As we always say, nobody does everything the best, so even the best have something to learn.

An Embarrassment of Riches

Compared to the woes of many, this will sound trivial at best, but the one thing I hate about the Healthcare Internet Conference is deciding which sessions to attend. Laugh, if you want to, but I’m serious!

I no longer need my toes to count the days until the 13th Annual  Healthcare Internet Conference. It’s a different experience for me now, but even before I joined Greystsone.Net, I looked forward to it every year.

With all due apologies to McGeorge Bundy, considered by many to be one of the architects of the Vietnam War, I’m struck by the fourth of his lessons learned from the book “Lessons in Disaster: McGeorge Bundy and the Path to War in Vietnam”: Read more…

58 Best Practice Case Studies

September 16th, 2009 No comments

Only a few short weeks ago, I sat in my office combing through over 125 entries for the 2009 Best In Class Awards.  In our office we each painstakingly read and analyze every nomination in search of a short list of finalists for each award category — and 2009 was clearly the most difficult year for us, in terms of narrowing the field.  Others in our office also comb through that same list and then we all converge in the conference room to begin our annual ritual — a litigation process to lobby for our favorites and create the consensus list of finalists.
