Heads are swimming
The 12th annual Healthcare Internet Conference is now history, and my first time on the “other side of the table” was a blast. I didn’t realize it was possible to be more exhausted and overwhelmed by everything I learned.
Just a few major conclusions that I reached during the three days:
- It is possible to do amazing things on a very skimpy budget, possibly smaller than what we had at Aurora (thanks, Andy Gradel from Cooper University Hospital).
- It’s possible to do even more amazing things if you actually have a budget (thanks, Dave Feinberg and Virgil Wong from NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital).
- There are creative ways to begin linking together disparate Web sites all representing a single entity (thanks, “lead Duck” Drew Diskin from The Johns Hopkins Hospital and Health System).
- The Holy Grail of an integrated EMR/PHR is in sight (thanks, Scott Smiley and Michael Fisher from Community Health Network).
- The art and discipline of usability testing is alive and well, and getting results, even on an award-winning site (thanks, Pam Landis from Henry Ford Health System).
- Many in healthcare know they can do better, want to do better, but are still struggling (thanks, everybody who stopped by our booth in the exhibit area).
Those of you who attended know I left out a ton of thanks and kudos to so many who made this conference another winner. Please comment and let us know which sessions you got the most out of, or your key learnings.
And check out our Facebook page for video interviews of some of the attendees (and more to be added soon).
Thanks for joining us, and we hope to see you all next year in Las Vegas!
